Muse es una banda inglesa de rock alternativo, originaria de Teignmouth, Inglaterra. Se formó en 1994. Sus integrantes desde su formación en la década de los años 90 son: Matthew James Bellamy (compositor, voz, guitarra, teclado y piano); Dominic Howard (batería y percusión); y Christopher Wolstenholme (bajo eléctrico, teclados y coros).

Parte del éxito de Muse reside no solamente en la gran capacidad interpretativa y compositiva de sus integrantes, pues además es una banda conocida por abarcar y mezclar diversos géneros y corrientes musicales.

Sus influencias originales incluyen artistas como Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine,Rush,Deftones, The Smashing Pumpkins, Pink Floyd, Jeff Buckley, y Jimi Hendrix; además de la influencia de compositores clásicos, especialmente, aquellos de la era romántica, tales como Sergéi Rajmáninov, Franz Liszt y Frédéric Chopin.

Adicionalmente la música latina ha tenido una influencia considerable en el sonido de la banda. Posteriormente la banda ha sido influenciada por agrupaciones como U2, Depeche Mode y Queen.
